Hakkari

Hakkari borders both Iran and Iraq. Its altitude and terrain has made education difficult, producing low literacy and a low standard of living. Terrorism has been a problem. There are hardly any believers. But is anything impossible for God?

O we of little faith!

Hakkari

It has been five years since the 1881 project has been able to visit Hakkari and we feel convicted we allowed the enemy to frighten us off! Three local believers travelled here from cities further west. First, they spent nearly four hours with a young man about to enter the university. He had already read the New Testament and some Old Testament as well. He asked excellent questions! The next day they went to the city centre to make some contacts but couldn't find other men to talk to so they went to the barber shop instead! The barber turned out to be an intellectual who reads a lot and has even read some of the Bible. He was a deist and against religion in general. After the haircut, the men sat and had tea together. The barber was intrigued by the idea of Christianity being a personal relationship and not a religion and happily took some books. He also gave his contact info so the guys can keep in contact with him and they've promised to send him more books to read.
