Gümüşhane means 'place of silver' because of its former rich silver deposits. The capital is an attractive town with many waterfalls and natural springs. Several students once came to faith but returned to their homes. Come and sow.
The team that travelled to Gümüşhane did so in a private vehicle so they had some interesting encounters! Making a wrong turn into someone's yard, they were invited in for drinks and were able to gift the owner a New Testament! At a petrol station, they got into a conversation with one of the employees who was interested in reading the Bible so they gave him an İncil as well and he said he would read it. They then visited a contact in a small village in Gümüşhane who had previously been in contact with the Bible Correspondence Course. They visited with his mother who said she loved Jesus but didn't feel His presence. She then prayed a repentance prayer and accepted Jesus. It's not entirely clear where she stands so please pray for godly discipleship for her. Please pray for all the literature that the team was able to distribute in Gümüşhane. It is a strongly nationalistic place; several months before extremists cut out the tongue of one of the Iranian believers there. Pray against violence and the Holy Spirit to break through.
