Düzce became Turkey’s newest province after the earthquake of November 1999. Believing relief workers here meant there was some spiritual fruit but the believers have scattered. The area continues to be one of economic hardship.
The team there met with 'C' who is studying in Düzce and comes from a very religious family. He was happy to meet us and do some research for himself! He had finally read the Kur'an in Turkish for the first time and realised it didn't say what he thought it did. The team was able to share lots of Scripture in order to answer his questions. He was very open to learning more and happy to accept Christian literature. The team went back a week later to meet C again. He had some great questions ready and they were able to read the Scriptures together, teaching him how to do it when he's on his own. He mentioned he had told another student friend of his to order an İncil as well and the team encouraged them to read together. It was wonderful to hear him pray from his heart. The team met another guy they'd met before who amazingly had married a believer from another country! They hadn't even thought he was that interested but after marrying her, he's been reading the Scriptures every day and even sharing some on Facebook!
